Donations for our Free Shop

What we need

The asylum process means most Bristol Refugee Rights members are forced to live in poverty so we run a free shop and are grateful to receive good quality donations (if you wouldn’t wear or use it, we don’t want it!).

Our free shop welcomes donations of:

  • Clean clothes and shoes for men, women and children—men’s clothes are the most useful. Please only donate clothes that are relevant to the season; we cannot store coats until winter or shorts until summer.
  • Small household items such as kitchen equipment, but NO electrical items please.
  • Non-perishable food, especially tins of tuna, peanut butter, bags of rice, biscuits etc.
  • Toiletries, especially shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes, razors, and sanitary towels.
  • Small toys.

We are unable to accept: car seats, furniture, electrical items, buggies, books or underwear.

How to donate

If you bring things we don’t want, or at times when we’re not open, you may actually be causing us more trouble than help!

If you have a donation please:

1. label all bags clearly “for BRR”;

2. bring them on Wednesday or Friday from 10-12.30 or Thursday 10-2.30 to The Malcolm X Centre, 141 City Road, Bristol BS2 8YH. Please do not leave items at any other time!

Due to very limited storage please do not bring large donations; for example more than 1 large bag (or black bag) full at a time.  We are unable to collect donations.

If you have larger items or any other questions please email andrew@ bristolrefugeerights.org or call 07846 332172

If your items for donation don’t fit the criteria listed above we would also recommend that you contact the AID Box Community to see if they would like your items.  Their details are on their website https://www.aidboxcommunity.co.uk/

Thanks for your support.
